Postcards to the NATO 3 can be sent from your phone or computer for 99c or less (includes postage) via FlikShop.

Sending books to the NATO 3:

  • Only send paperback books.
  • Package the book in a bubble wrap padded envelope with BOOK written clearly on the outside.
  • DO NOT send books in cardboard envelopes.  They cannot be scanned and will be returned unopened.
  • Addresses for the NATO 5  can be found above.
  • For cheapest shipping rates, take the package to your local post office and request that it be sent media mail.
  • Let us know what book you’ve sent to whom! We are keeping track to avoid duplication. Email nato5solidarity [at] gmail [dot] com and we’ll add yours to the list.

  1. The rules for the Pontiac Correction Center are different for books. They only allow new paperbacks to be sent directly from Amazon. Here is the info

    Pontiac correctional center also does not allow drawings or markings on letters which is unfortunate. Mark likes Grumpy Cat pics.

  2. According to the IDOC page on Pontiac and the handbook for the facility (, you may ship new or used books to prisoners and they do not have to be sent from a bookseller. This is in line with regulations at other IDOC facilities. We have sent several shipments of used books to Mark and none have been returned. Additionally, anybody on his visitation list can bring 5 books or magazines for him when they visit.
